Follow me through my time at university and see how my work progresses. Every time I have a new project I will give a brief description of what is being asked of me, followed by the outcome and how I found it. Should be interesting.
02/02/10 Character Animation Project 2
Second assignment of the semester. Another character animation, however this time it should include storyboards and other pre-production work. I've decided to make an animation about a little ninja named Gaz. 5 Weeks to do this so SHOULD look good when it's complete. Fingers crossed.

Just handed in the assignment, not completly happy but after working on it for so long I think it's a good time to move onto something else. Looking at this animation and what I have done in the past just prove I am progressing and getting better.
New semester = new area of study. This year we're focusing on character animation. For this new assignment, I have to model a simple character. Create a working rig and animate it doing something for 15secs ( walking ). Not done character animation in a while... This should be interesting...

So after re-doing this project about 5 times I finally settle with my very first go. I'm not entirely happy with it however after the long break I have had from character animation I wouldn't say its THAT bad.
Slightly different project this time. The sound lecturer has kindly put together a sound file for us to pick 30 seconds of and produce a abstract animation to go along side it. Quite excited about this project now we are finally animating and although we have 4 weeks to do it I'm going to keep it simple... It so easy to get carried away.

Finished! I feel like I had too long to do this animation but at least I had time to get on with other things and learn some techniques. For the final animation I mainly used just flat polys and animation the transparancy. Added a little bit of particle effects too.... There is a few things I would change, maybe I'll come back during the holidays and make 1 or 2 edits.
So we have an option of what to model this time. The class has been given a selection of Hopper house paintings to choose from and model the environment featured in it. Quite excited bout this project, I like modelling environments. I choose a carriage scene. view image here

This was a fun project. Had to try and get the lighting right as well as the models. I think 2 weeks was more than enough time to get it done as well so there was no stress this time with deadlines. Although there are a few things I wanted to do differently I think the outcome is okay considering I've only been using Maya for 4 weeks. Learned alot doing this can wait to try it all out in other projects -
This project is another still life. Harder though. More organic shapes....AND textures have to be applied.... Lets see how it goes.

WELL! I thought the last one was challenging.. I think I need more practise with this program. Modelling these shapes was much more fun though was it wasn't bad. Now I know what areas I need to work on at least. Check it out -
For this project I have to model a still life of boxes. No textures, just an off white colour...

This project was actually quite challenging. First time using Maya, think I did okay. There are parts I could have put more work in but was running out of time to get everything done.
